EDWARD LEONARD BUCKLER Ed passed away suddenly at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary July 19, 2005. Dealing with the shock of this loss is his beloved wife Irma (nee Wiebe) of 37 years. They were partners in every aspect of their life together. Also left to mourn are his two cousins, Carla and Roberta and their families, and Irma's many family members. Ed is predeceased by his mother and father, and sisters, Shirley and Evelyn. Ed was born in Winnipeg July 8, 1944 spent a bit of his life in Lac Du Bonnet, but enjoyed a free and happy childhood growing up in Minaki. Ed loved to tell stories of playing and trapping in the bush with his best buddy Jimmy Anderson. He began his working life as a surveyor in both Northwestern Ontario and Northern Manitoba. He spent the large part of his career in the Manitoba trucking industry, driving for Kingsway, Kleysen, Motorways, Tri-Line and at the time of his death for Bison Transport. He spent many years on the road but his true love was being at home with Irma, and attending family gatherings. They began their married life in Winnipeg, were avid Bomber fans and whenever possible returned to Minaki to boat and fish. In 1987, they settled in Winnipeg Beach and built their dream home surrounded by Irma's dream gardens. There Ed loved to read, enjoyed going out for what he called his senior's breakfasts, was a member of the Winnipeg Beach Curling Club and lived for the summer season that allowed him and Irma to golf. One of his proudest sporting accomplishments was scoring a hole in one at the Castle Highland Golf Course in Bimidji, North Dakota. His winter pleasure was stringing their Christmas lights that could be seen for miles. Ed was best known for simply being there for others. He was a devoted husband, an exceptional friend and had a quick and willing hand for all his neighbours. He was always in good spirits and accepted those slices in life that came his way. He loved to laugh, could be a terrible tease and to the delight of the neighbourhood children was one big kid himself. Irma would like to thank Bison Transport and especially Ed's dispatcher Garry for all their wonderful help and support. She would also like to thank the wonderful ICU team at Foothills Medical Centre for their dedication and compassion. She would like to thank her friends and my rock Sandi Coleman. A celebration of Ed's life will take place on Saturday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Irma: I don't know if Eddie ever talked about Aunt Anna & Uncle August, who farmed at Fannystelle, we are their family. Allan is the only one in Winnipeg, I live in High River, AB and Wayne in Ontario. Annie (Schuman) was my cousin, and I remember, the times we had together. I am so sorry to hear about your loss, the love of your life, I just had to send you a note to let you know our whole family is thinking of you at this time. If and when you ever have time we would love to hear from you. Rita (Schuman) McColl - Posted by: Rita McColl,Allan Schuman,Wayne Schuman (Family) on: Jul 22, 2005
